Final Blog Entery: My Project

I went to farming market on monday. I have been in here for 3 years and it was my first time to visit there.  When I got there first time, there were many people and they were trying to buy things. I was surprised that all these people were here to see and buy some foods in here, not other stores around their home.There were a lot of different kind of things such as fruit, grocery, bread, and meats and these were so fresh. They put some signs like all of these are organic. The prices of foods was more expensive than other places. I usually don't buy the expensive foods and I like the cheap foods that I could get around my home. However, I could understand these people who were trying to buy things in there because these would be good for their health and have more benefits on them.

 I bought a cabage and I cooked a fried dish called " cabage buchimgae". This is a famous korean food. It was so good and easy to cook. There are few steps to make this. First, wash the cabage and take out few leafs. Next, mix egg, flour, and two cups of water to make puff paste. Last, put oil on the fry pan and fry the cabage with the puff paste for few minutes.

Through this project, I learned that how foods change when these come to our table and the difference of the original foods and the store foods. I also realized that organic foods are good for our body and it is worth to buy these foods even if these are more expensive than others.

As going back through your blog entries for the semester, I think that "the meatrix", "allegory of the cave", and " Truman show". These 3 works are all related to the enlightenment about the true. Before I do these assignments, I couldn't realize that there is always true behind the reality I believe as the true. So I'm interested in these essays and I think that these are the 3 best works for me in this semester. 

In this class, writing online was a little different form other writing experience I have had in the past because I didn't use online for writing that much and I have never used the blog for writing before. Writing blog entry helps me a lot. The blog entrys have many theme and it affects my idea and helps me to write creatively. I think that online work was a shared experience. Everytime I write the essay, i can see others and also comments on their essays so it was a shared work. I often read other's essay and  I often get the impreesion form the other member of the class. It helps me to try some new expression.

I take new lessons that how to summury and how to organize the essay form this class. I would have liked to discuss about how the factory farming is processing. When I write about factory farming on the bloig entry, I really wanted to know how does it processing in detail and I was shocked about the true of the meat we eat. I feel like I leave this class with a basic understanding of writing strategies because I know how to organize the essay and what things should be in each paragraph. The most memorable moment in the class was when I was watching the matrix. I knew that movie before the class but I didn't know what this movie wants to tell us and what is about exactly. So as I watch this movie again in the class, i could understand deeply about the movie than before. I would give some recommendations that not cutting the class and try to understand the theme of the class to a student who plans to take this class next semester.

As johusan lin explains in her blog entry 18, I strongly agree with her point that the technology will have many benefits for our world. In "sleep dealer". many people work in any place through the node which makes people to connect their body to the machine. They work in California even if their bodies are in Mexico and they get paid well enough that they can afford to pay for their family. It helps to create more jobs and makes our life more convenient. Even though it has some dangers, if people use the technology properly, it has more benefits for our world.

People exploit the planet's resources to make stuff  but the reality is that  people who live in the country with the resources do not have value because they don't own the resource. The country with resources is usually   an underdeveloped contry and many companies from  advanced contry gets benefits from it. The companies can get it in much cheaper price than they get in their country. People who live in the country with resources just work for the companies and get paid a little. they can't even afford to buy stuff from their resources. For example, in africa, there are many natural resources like wood and mine. However ,these places do not belong to the people who live there but to the companies from developed country. The more companies make stuff using these resources to make money, the more people who live in this area become poor. I strongly believe that this is wrong and it should be stopped.  

Blog entry 17 reflection

According to this semester, I think that the content of food unit has a close connection with the previous text which are the allegory of the cave, the truman show, the matrix. The common theme of these texts are all about knowing the truth beyond the fake. In the truman show, the truman lives in the fake world that is created by a director and he finds the truth at last by getting over fear of water. In the allegory of the cave, a prisoners who has been in the cave for almost his life escapes from the cave. He sees the real world which is the truth and realizes that all things he sees in the cave was not everything in the world. In matrix, neo face the situation that he needs to choose one of the red pill and blue pill. He picks the red pill to know the truth whether the truth is bad or good.

The maker of meatrix makes the film based on "matrix". The world is now industry society. people make things so fast and they want to make more money so that they don't really care about how the process is. the truth is covered by money like the matrix covers the real world to control the people. The maker wants us to know the truth about how the meats we eat are made and where the meats from like the neo finds the truth in the matrix. As I look back over my works for the food unit, I think that the theme of this class is the truth and enlightenment and I realize that I'm also one of the people who are afraid of knowing the truth.

I think I have done well on my essay structure through the practice CAT test but I need more practice about managing the time. The one big challenge that I face in this class is using variable words in the essay. I think that I need to do more freerice whenever I have time so that I can use more new words on my essay. I also need to develop my thesis and claim on practice CAT test. I hope I do more practice so I pass the CAT test.

I choose this photo as the theme of the movie. In the movie " sleep dealer " there are many Mexicans who works for the united states. They connect their body to the machine using the hole in their body called "node" in California to work there. these people get paid a little and they have a lot of risk that they can die or lose part of their body. I think that this photo speaks about the film that the outsourcing of labor has some problem. The reality is that the outsourced labor get paid much less than others and the work environment is horrible which is very dangerous like the place in the film. many people lose their fingers and they get paid like few dollars a month even if they do much works than others who are not outsourced labor. I feel that they are not labors but slaves. I believe that they should be treated as well as they do.

There are many fast food restaurants these days. People like to eat fast food because of time and its convenience. In the article, author talks about the reality that people like to eat fast food and how the fast food restaurants get into the public favor. The author also explains that what kind of nutrition problem it has. The problem is that eating fast food is not good for health. I strongly believe that people should stop eating fast food every day. There are 3 reasons that I believe are because nutrition, chemicals, and uncleanness.

First of all, the fast food doesn't have enough nutrition for people. Basically, human needs 3 nutrition which are protein, fat, and carbohydrate to live. Fast food has enough calories or more than recommended calories. However, it just has a lot of fat and carbohydrate but it doesn’t really have protein which is very important nutrition to live for human. If people eat these foods every meal and every day, they will die. Therefore, I think that people should not eat fast food every day.

Second, the fast food has a lot of chemicals. When they make the food in the restaurant, they usually put some chemicals on food to taste better and to keep for long time. However, in the fast food restaurant like McDonald, they put too much chemicals on hamburger when they make it. As a result of putting too much chemicals, the hamburger is never spoiled even after few months. I can't even imagine how it works in my body if I eat. So I think that fast food is never good for people's health.

At last, the fast food is dirty. Customers of course think that the fast foods they eat are clean and these are made in good environment. However, the reality is that the food is nasty and it is made in dirty place. For example, I used to work in McDonald and I was shocked when I saw the environment to make hamburgers first time. It was nastier than I expected and most workers don't even wash their hands and the stuffs for making hamburger are not clean. There are also some people who died because of eating hamburger which has a lot of bacteria. I think that having fast-food is not a good idea

In conclusion, I emphasize that having fast-food is a horrible idea. I hope people to be aware that fast food has a lot of problems and to be careful about it.

I think that the maker of meatrix used the matrix as the basis for this argument because they have similar connections between meatrix and matrix.  In the meatrix,  the maker trys to tell us that factory farming is wrong and people don't know the truth that where the meat we eat from. It is like neo was trying to save the world that is fake and wrong. so I think that the maker of meatrix wants us to know the truth like neo and try to fix it.

In the movie “matrix", the matrix is the fake world created by computer and main character "neo" lives there. He gets to know about truth little by little and finally, he has a situation that he has to choose one of pills which are red and blue. Taking a blue pill makes him to stay in his current existence and taking a red pill makes him to see the truth. He chooses the red pill and i totally agree with his choice that taking a red pill. If i were in neo's position, I would also take a red pill. The reasons that I choose red pill are because I hate people who lie to me, I don’t want to be stuck in a fake world, and I don't want to be controlled by somebody.

First of all, I hate people who lie to me. I have a bad experience about it. When I was in middle school, I had a best friend in the same class. One day, I lost my wallet in the class and I asked him about it. He answered that he doesn't know about it and never saw it before. However, after few days later, I found my wallet in his bag by accident while I was cleaning the class. I had no doubt of him when I lost my wallet. I thought that he always told me the truth and never lied to me. I was so hurt that my best friend lied to me. Since it happened, I have become a person who hates lie or fake. Therefore, I don't want to live in the matrix.

Second, I don't want to be stuck in a fake world. If I live in the fake world, there is no meaning in my life. For example, I complete my education and get a job in the fake world, however these are all fake and there is no truth at all in this world. I'm also afraid that I never see the truth by being stuck in the fake world before I die. So, I would take a red pill if I were in neo's position.

At last, I do not want to be controlled by somebody. The matrix is the world that is created and controlled by an artificial intelligence computer. I want to live my own life, not the life determined for me already. If I live in the matrix, there is no freedom for me to decide and to make my own life. This is scar and horrible for the people who want to live their own lives. In the "matrix" neo also doesn't live to be controlled and wants to see the truth. Therefore, I think that living in the matrix is not a good idea.

In conclusion, I emphasize that taking a red pill is better than blue pill to live our own lives in freedom. I hope more people to face the truth and be aware that which one is better

People do farming to live and there are 2 representative ways to farm. These are house farming and factory farming. house farming is farming using natural environment and factory farming is using factory. In the film"meatrix" Moopheus stated that the factory farming has many problem like animal cruelty and massive pollution and he also showed that how bad environment the factory has. Factory farming has been popularized since the industry revolution and many house farms were destroyed by factory farming. The reality is that there are only few house farms left and even some of these farms try to change to factory to maximize the profit though they know the problems about factory farming. I strongly believe that people should stop doing factory farming. There are 3 reasons that I believe this are because product from factory farm is harmful to people, raising the animals in the factory farm makes animals to have some bad diseases and factory farming causes massive pollution.

First of all, product from the factory farm is harmful to people. In the factory farm, a lot of animals got stuck in small places so that they can get infected fast and easily if there is any disease. Owners of the farm don't want to lose at least one of them for disease and they put a lot of medicine or drug on animals in factory farm. Some of these medicine or drugs remain on the animal's body even if they died and people will eat these meats without knowing anything. This is like people are eating the medicine and drugs regularly. No one knows what happens to the people who eat these kind of products for long time. So, I think that the factory farming affects people's body.

Second, raising the animals in the factory farm makes animals to have some bad diseases. There are many horrible diseases such as bird flu and mad cow disease now days and these are from factory farming basically. There are very small places allowed to animal to move in the factory farm because the meat is sold by weight and the owner wants them to get fat faster and it also makes the meats more soft. Animals doesn't even have freedom to move and they get sick. The owner even feeds them the meats of themselves  and it makes them crazy and it also affects their brain so that they have new diseases. Therefore I think that factory farming should be stopped.

At last, the factory farming causes massive pollution. The millions pounds of excrement come from the animals in the factory farms and they are released to the rivers and air around the factory. It pollutes the rivers and all the lives in the river will die soon. It also pollutes the air so that people get sick and makes people hard to breathe and it smells so bad. The community around the factory farms often suffer from high level sickness and after the community are polluted, it takes a long time to turn back to the time before pollution. I think that factory farming is bad for environment.

In conclusion, I emphasize that factory farming has many bad influences on our society. I hope more people to be aware that factory farming affects our life and to be careful about it.

In the movie "matrix" the world we live in was wrong place and neo tried to save the world. factory farming has been popularized since the industry revolution and it covers the house farming like the matrix covers real world so that people can't see the truth.

In blog series 1, I learned a lot of things like the structure for the whole essay and what kind of factor should be in each paragraph. I have done that on my essay and I got better than before. however, I still think that I need more practice on it and I need improvement on my word decision. When I choose some words for some sentences, sometimes, the sentence doesn't make sense because the word I choose is improper word for the sentence. I face many problems with this class but, especially time is the most important problem for me. I feel so overwhelmed when I take test like final test and cat test so I can't finish the whole essay on time. I couldn't finish practice CAT test this time too. I think that I need to have more practice right now. I should set the time like the real test whenever I write essays. It will help me to feel more relaxed and comfortable. I also think that I need to see other people's essay so that I can be more creative about ideas for essay. I hope I have more practice in this class and pass the CAT test.

Most people watch TV everyday and they can not even imagine how many TV programs and shows that they come across. The problem is that people are affected by these programs. I believe that reality TV is harmful to the society and it should be limited on some level.

In the article, author talks about how reality TV affects our society. Reality TV sends out the dangerous messages that the key to be successful is competition and image rather than ability in a capitalist society and emphasizes that the most dangerous message is that education is not important to come true the American dream.

I think that reality TV has a bad influence upon people' life. Reality TV shows that competition is the only way to be successful and everything seems to relate to competition in this society. When people watch that, they accept this theme on TV and think that it is right and natural without knowing what they are thinking. There are too much violence and sexual activities on reality TV nowadays and it affects people, especially for children. Children learn a lot of things from what they see and hear. Reality TV is one of the good medium for children to learn something. When they watch reality TV, they are exposed to a lot of violence and sexual activities. They just learn these things and absorb these like sponge and it remains their brain. Some children who watch too much violence on TV are usually aggressive and they often fight with their friend. Moreover, the children who watch a lot of sexual activities follow the  sexual activities and it leads them to be early pregnancy when they are not ready to be responsible for baby.

I emphasize that reality TV is bad for people it should be reduced. I hope more people to be aware that reality TV has some bad influences on them and to be careful about that.

In Dr J's question, I believe that taking red pill is the better choice because I don't want to live in a fake world and if everything around me is fake, there is no meaning in the life. In the movie"matrix" neo also wants to know the truth and choose the red pill to get out of the fake world. Later, he accepts the truth and try to save the real world.

The matrix discussion telecommute was a new experience for me and it was really nice. I could see a lot of opinions from others and i totally agreed with some of them. At first, I had a problem that I didn't understand some people's opinioin but I could understand them after I read their writing over and over. I learned that how to organize thea a claim and how to understand different perspectives. I also realized that im not the only answer and there are many different answers.

Truman lives in the city called "sea heaven" and this is fake world but looks real more than real world. every thing is not true in this world even his wife and friends and everything in this world is going around with Truman. So there is no problem which exists in real world. Truman doesn't have to face the problem and live the life planned for him. 

If I were in same situation with Trueman, I would not choose to live in cristoff 's world even if the world cristoff has created has no problem and seems to be more perfect than real world, it is not truth but just fake. I think that the world cristoff has created tell us about how horrible this reality is and there are so many lies around in the real world so that people can't even distinguish between truth and false.cristoff may think that the real world is 'sick' place and  had many problems like poverty, hunger, war, and lack of money so he wants to to clear these problems for Truman. On the other hand, he thinks that the world Truman lives is normal and there is no problem but just everything Truman needs. However there is no freedom actually for Truman because it seems that there is everything for Truman but that is for a TV show and audience. He takes one person's right to be free.

In conclusion, I hope more people find the truth beyond the reality they have now with facing the fear like Truman.

Blog entry 7: reflection and evaluation

I learned more about annotating through this class than last semester and I thought that I needed to improve my sentence structures.The problem I face in this class is that reading fast enough to follow the class. I also think that I should know how to organize the whole essay and how to make reasons to support main idea to move ahead now. while I was taking the CAT-W test, I felt like I needed to know more vocabulary to understand the passage given on the CAT-W test and I needed more time to finish the writing. From the passage, I got a question about whether using cellphone in the public school is acceptable or not? and I didn't agree with using cellphone in the public school. As I see my experience, using cellphone never works positively to education. I hope I have more reading to practice to pass this class.

In"allegory of the cave" author tells a story to show how far human nature is enlightened or unenlightened. There are some prisoners who have been in an underground den for a long time from their young childhood. Their bodies are chained so that they can not move and can see only the shadows which is thrown from the fire behind them. One day, a prisoner got released accidentally and he saw the light from the sun and real world. Finally,he realized that what he saw before was an illusion and not everything in the world. Author points out that people believe that only what they see and know is the truth and everything without knowing that there are more beyond them in their life.

After I read "allegory of the cave" it reminds me of experience that I had. when I was young, I used to believe that the world was going around me. I thought that I'm the center of the world and everybody was looking up to me. My parents always took care of me and i thought that they could get anything if I wanted. When I was in high school, i failed many classes but I did not mind it and took it easy about my grade. I  thought that at last, I was going to be successful anyway because I had a dominating thought and I felt like the world needs me. I also thought that there is nothing more important than me in the world. One day, one of my friends told me to wake up and emphasized that the world doesn't center around me. When i heard that, I was shocked and i thought it over then. Finally, I realized that I was wrong. The reality was that all men are created equal and there is no one who is higher and more important than others.

I think that author wants people to find whether they are still chained or walking out to the light in their lives. I advise that people should find what stage they are and if they are chained, try to find the truth beyond the reality they believe which may be an illusion. I hope more people to find the truth and  face the truth without being scared.

I read a essay a passage with the class and it gives me the way to think deeply.When i discuss about "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" with my partners, we find that this passage doesn't make sense and author just talks about google is so bad and explain that google makes us not to think deeply without giving us enough reasons. author also mentions about texting, and cellphone, but these are not related with how google make us stupid. I learn how to understand passages easily from reading by annotating it. When i annotate a passage, I can get what the author want to say and what kind of argument there is. therefore it helps me to be better writer as i annotate a passage or essay.

What I expect to get out of this class

i expect some practices and expect to know how to write aessay to prepare for the eng101 and act test.
